Synopsis:The reign of the famous and powerful Tang dynasty (618-907), known as the apogee of the Chinese civilization with a two thousand years long and exceptionally rich cultural heritage, is considered one of the most signifcant periods in the long and turbulent history of China. It is beyond all doubt renowned for being a golden age of Chinese arts when under the emperor's patronage poetry, painting and calligraphy reached the zenith, and were in full bloom. This was also an era of material well-being, institutional development as well as new philosophical schools and religions. The expansion of Han people culminated, and the Chinese empire extended to Korea in the east, to Cambodia in the south, and to the kingdom of Persia in the west. China under the reign of Tang dynasty was surely the most powerful, the richest and in many aspects the most advanced country in the world.
