Abstract:   In 1964 the Holy See renamed the Lavantine diocese as the Maribor Lavantine diocese; the borders of the diocese corresponded to the borders of the state, except where the diocese was bordering on the Zagreb Archbishopric. After the foundation of the Ljubljana Metropolis, the Maribor diocese was incorporated in it. In this period there were three ordinaries: Dr. Ivan Jožef Tomažič, Dr. Maksimilijan Držečnik and Dr. ere appointed. The power of the people thwarted or restricted the services of the Church, abolished the charitable and pedagogical service, staged numerous criminal procedures, administrative penalties were imposed on many priests and monks, even on the bishop of Maribor.
